RICK OWENS: From a difficult starting point, the Rick Owens aesthetic no longer enjoys the highs of seasons past, this collection clearly highlighting his adaptations to stay current. Racer jacket inspired leathers, slimmer tailoring in jackets and trousers, and crisp white shirting all offering a more sartorial approach. Sports inspired themes replaced the traditional drama, while shoes resembled sneakers more than even before. The mixed leathers on coats my pick of the looks. ARE YOU TIRED OF THIS LOOK? I am curious to know.

RICK OWENS AW 2011
I am a massive fan of Rick Owens- I find his clothes take a direction not used by other designers. His dark and androgynous themes are also seen as obvious inspiration in the collections of many labels. The designer referenced service; duty and devotion as inspiration for AW 2011- think traditional Vatican dress and slaves who built the pyramids?! Right. His leather and skins, of course, were a stand out- I loved his classic blazer and zip front boots- both items for which he has become renowned. Although, on the flip side, would you really feel OK walking down Macleay Street in one of these outfits? Perhaps just an individual piece here or there!
