In his first post for Front Row Suit, Stylist James Dykes reviews Saxony Spring/Summer 12…

Last Wednesday evening I attended the Saxony spring/summer presentation. Held in the exhibition hall at the Australian Technology Park- the large open warehouse space combined with spot lighting set an eerie mood. It was a perfect location to encapsulate the dark theme of the first runway Saxony Collection.

Saxony brought in stylist David Bonney, who added Doc Martin boots and layers of texture, especially leather. High collars and hoods were some of the notable details. Finished off with dark dramatic eyes on the girls and wet-look hair.

Overall, Saxony brought out a sombre mood through deconstructed fabrication, similar to what we see in some international designers such as Rick Owen’s and Ann Demeulemeester.

It was a good effort considering it was their first show; great execution of the presentation but I would like to see more of their own voice in the brand’s upcoming collections.

  • Good review and the styling & location look great. Though, I am glad the author mentioned the similarities to Rick Owens and Ann D because this is completely derivative. We already had Friedrich Gray, Chronicles of Never, and Trimapee all biting this look I don’t know if the men of Sydney need another tribute label?

Time for something new and original
