5 FASHION WEEK TIPS FOR BOYS

Fashion week tips for boys

Fashion Week can be a challenging time for all involved… Here are my five top tips to surviving the week with your ego intact- But above all things; be yourself and never take it too seriously!

Fashion week tips for boys

1) Do not take longer than an hour to get ready. Anyone who takes longer than an hour is either a socialite, blogger (myself excluded) or Television personality – the crowd of editors at fashion week tend to hate to all three. Use your time more productively!

2) Do not change your outfit more than once on any given day (unless you need to add a jacket for warmth). This is a serious no brainer- don’t assume others are taking note of your every move- the majority are there for work. Show ponies frowned upon!

3) Do accessorise with a bag. Lets be honest, everyone has had the craving to carry a man bag at some stage. Fashion Week is the perfect opportunity- the ultimate place to put pens, pad and phone without bulging your pockets.

4) Do not attempt to sleaze/pick up the models, male or female. Models are there to work, often horrendously long hours, hence the last thing they need is a drunk guy offering them a glass of free sparkling wine.

5) Drink alcohol with caution. Enjoying a drink or two with your peers is perfectly acceptable, stumbling to your seat or slurring show critique is not. On top of that, nobody wants to be seated next to your white wine breath. Keep it in check!

GALLIANO’S PACKAGE

John Galliano

Earlier this week John Galliano and his lawyers were waring it out in a paris court over wrongful dismissal claims… No surprises there. What did catch my eye were the pay packet details revealed as part of the proceedings. So here it is:

Mr Galliano sources income from two parts of LVMH (Dior’s parent company)…

The first is Christian Dior Couture, he is paid an annual salary of 1 million Euros plus a variable compensation of up to 700,000 Euro. In addition to that, he is given a 30,000 Euro allowance for clothing and another 60,000 Euros for grooming.

Secondly, he is paid a annual salary of 2 million Euros as artistic director of his own brand (John Galliano, owned by LVMH), a bonus linked to the decrease in losses at the ever unprofitable business, and a 70,000 Euro clothing budget.

And perhaps well deserved- it costs a lot to look that weird right??!

TRUNK SHOW: MICHAEL CLARKE & LOUIS VUITTON

Kylie and Michael Clarke

Luke Ricketson, Kate Waterhouse

Stephen Pavlovic, Josh Goot, Nick Tobias

Michael Clarke for Louis Vuitton

Josh Goot, Christine Centenera, Kyle Clarke, Michael Clarke, Stephen Pavlovic

Tom and Hoda Waterhouse

Marty Switzer, Jess Blanch

NO JUNK IN THIS TRUNK: This week I got sporty. The nations favourite cricketer, Michael Clarke, has been working hard with Louis Vuitton. Designing his own cricketers trunk with the artisans in Paris, making a few personal touches and filling it with signed gear- the trunk will be sold by Christies- with all proceeds being donated to the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Who does not love Clarkie!?! If you are keen on owning this one of a kind- try the George St store!

CASHED UP PRADA

Prada AW12

PRADA is rolling in cash: Literally. The company just announced yet another major result- this time the Italian powerhouse has achieved a first half growth of 59.5% in net profits (WTF!!). Closing the last six months of business at 286.5 million euros, up from 179.5 million in the same period last year!! Those rhinestones and 1950s prints from summer 2012 really went off- do you think winter 2012 (pictured) will do the same?
